The most wonderful time of the year is fast-approaching and with that comes our holiday favorites. From silver bells to eggnog to Christmas tree shopping, these popular pastimes are sure to usher in the holiday season with fun, laughter, smiles, and joy.
But the true essence of the season lies in the spirit of giving back. That’s why Yes& is excited to host the sixth annual Merry Mail Social—a community event where friends, family, colleagues, and local-area businesses come together to handcraft holiday cards for those who need a little extra holiday cheer.
This year, we are thrilled to partner with three remarkable charities: Carpenter’s Shelter, Ronald McDonald House, and Operation Gratitude. Read more about the extraordinary work they do for the community and beyond:
- Carpenter’s Shelter: Since 1988, Carpenter’s Shelter has offered shelter and comprehensive services for children, women, and men experiencing homelessness with the ultimate goal of transitioning residents into sustainable housing. They strive to help the low-income, and those who suffer from domestic violence, lack of family support, mental illness, substance abuse, prior incarceration, or history of eviction. Carpenter’s Shelter has served the Alexandria, VA, community for over 34 years and maintained a 93% permanent housing success rate for sheltered residents who transition to their community-based rapid re-housing programs.
- Ronald McDonald House: The Ronald McDonald House creates, finds, and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families. Believing in a world where all children should have access to medical care and their families should be supported, The Ronald McDonald House facilitates family-centered care, allowing parents who are far from home to stay close to their hospitalized child and benefit from the comforts of home without incurring hotel and food costs. Providing over 1.5 million overnight stays each year, they have helped families save nearly over $504 million in lodging and meal expenses.
- Operation Gratitude: Beginning in March 2003, Operation Gratitude has provided opportunities for thousands of Americans to express their gratitude through hands-on volunteerism. Americans nationwide donate items and send letters and care packages to deployed troops, first responders, recruit graduates, veterans, and even military kids every year to show their love and support. To date, Operation Gratitude has sent over 3.5 million care packages including 10,000+ distributed to military kids and 200,000+ letters this year.
December is right around the corner! So don’t miss the opportunity to come celebrate with Yes& at this year’s Merry Mail Social, because it’s so much fun to craft a card and send a smile.
