Yes& (formerly Beyond Definition) was recently named a Merit Winner by SPD for its 57th Annual Winners List. Yes& is proud to be recognized by the prestigious competition for its design of the “Chew on This” feature opener in the October 2021 issue of NACS Magazine.
In this article, NACS explores how the pandemic has affected gum sales as a result of masks and social distancing, with the clever headline “Chew on This” and sub-line “Getting the candy subcategory of gum and mints back on track.” Bright, playful colors were used in the design and the article text is encompassed within a giant gum bubble. To create a layout with a harmonious feel, we used the bubble graphic to contain the body copy and the bubble highlight style on the headline to visually connect the art to the typography across the spread.
The Society of Publication Designers (SPD) serves an expansive network of creative professionals, strengthening the editorial design community and shaping the future of visual culture. Its members are united in the pursuit of publishing the most compelling stories across several platforms and disciplines. The 57th Annual Winners List recognizes publications that exhibit excellence in the creative publishing space. Yes& is proud to be listed for its work with *NACS Magazine*.
